Update From Administrator – August 30, 2020

Hello!

I hope this email finds you safe and healthy.

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  I am Donna Orefice, the new Administrator at Montowese Health and Rehabilitation Center.  I will be sending out weekly emails to keep you apprised of changes to the Department of Public Health and CDC’s guidance in addressing COVID protocols.  I will also utilize this format to keep you apprised of facility events, happenings and issues.

We continue to test all of our residents and employees for COVID on a weekly basis.  This testing will continue until the State of CT determines otherwise.  We continue to test negative.  We also continue to quarantine any new admission for the requisite 14 days.

As you know more than anyone, it’s been a difficult few months as our center has battled with COVID-19.  While the number of individuals stricken with the virus has decreased dramatically, we know that it is possible we will be dealing with another surge of positive cases in our community.  We must continue to be ever vigilant in our infection control policies and protocols.

Our entire team has been at work planning for this possibility, and we’d like your input as we continue to refine our strategy to keep all of our residents and staff safe.  To that end, we have developed this brief survey that we are asking family members and residents to complete.  It will only take you a few minutes and will help us learn what your priorities and main concerns may be.

Please click on this link to take a brief survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZXF356S which will remain open until August 31.

I understand this is short notice, however it is important, and we do appreciate any input we receive.

Your participation is greatly appreciated.  Thank you for your consideration and stay safe.

We will continue having patio visits and FaceTime meetings for families who are interested.  We have several tablets available to residents who wish to participate in this type of a meeting.  Please contact Valerie in the Therapeutic Recreation Department to schedule a FaceTime call.

North Haven and the Branford area was hit with a tornado this past week.  Other than losing power, it did not affect our immediate area.  We did lose a large tree on our property from the wind and lines went down along Quinnipiac Avenue but we did not experience a direct hit.  We immediately went on generator power and residents were all reassured.

I want to thank you for your confidence in caring for you or  your loved ones and look forward to hearing from you.  Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have a concern or simply wish to acknowledge something that is going well.

Thank you and please stay safe and healthy!

Kind regards,

Donna
